Try out the new Google Spreadsheets.
Google Spreadsheets is an Ajax based spreadsheet, which, at the moment, is available to the general public only as a limited test. However, you can take a tour of what the product will eventually look like once it’s launched. If you like, you can request an invitation to try it out.
Functionality includes creating spreadsheets from scratch and importing files in CSV or XLS formats, so Microsoft Excel documents and other spreadsheet files should work in Google Spreadsheets. Files can be saved in CSV, XLS and HTML formats, and because it’s online, they can be accessed from anywhere that you have an internet connection.
You can also share documents and choose who you want to share with other people. You can even edit documents with other people at the same time and chat to them during the process.
If this sounds appealing, there are a number of other similar Ajax spreadsheet applications, such as ZohoSheet, iRows, or numsum. Zoho is actually working on an Ajax office suite. If you can’t wait for Google to, then you could try this out.
